For those of you who enjoy “Quantico” and enjoy watching it extensively, we may as well go ahead and be the bearer of bad news: There is no new episode of the show airing on ABC tonight.
What’s the reason for that? It’s ultimately a simple matter of scheduling. Given that the network clearly did not want to program too many Sundays late into the new year in lieu of holiday programming, they wanted to spend tonight ending “Secrets and Lies” instead.
When the show does return on Monday, January 23, it is going to be rather clear almost from the get-go that we will be seeing things a little differently. That’s what happens when you move to a different part of the week! While it may be strange on the surface to shift the show around in the middle of the season, it may be precisely what it needs to have a chance at sticking around.
One of the biggest benefits that is likely going to come out of the show airing at this new time in particular is going to be a chance to benefit from a strong lead-in. Throughout almost its entire run on TV, “Quantico” hasn’t had a chance to get a significant boost from anything that came before it in the lineup. This could be changing now, and we are very much interested to see what comes around as a result of that.
Herein lies the problem that we still see the show facing: “Quantico” is not the sort of show that you can dive into at this point in the run and immediately have an idea as to what is going on. IF people start watching just because it’s on after “The Bachelor,” they may be confused. Here’s to hoping the show has some mechanism in place to avoid that.
