Marvel’s ‘Luke Cage’ renewed for season 2 by Netflix
While the following report may not come as an enormous surprise to many people out there, it is definitely still worth noting — especially to fans of “Luke Cage” who have been hopeful to see more of the show beyond the upcoming “The Defenders”: The series is officially coming back for a second season!
In a new post on the Netflix series’ official Twitter page, you can see a cool new video making it clear that a season 2 will be coming soon — as for how soon, it’s probably still a little ways down the pipeline.
To date, Netflix has been keen to release two shows for their Marvel collaboration a year, with “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” coming out last year while “Daredevil” season 2 and “Luke Cage” started streaming at some point this year. We know that “Iron Fist” is on tape for the first half of 2017, and then “The Defenders” will be coming up at some point after that. Beyond these two series, we’ve also got on the pipeline the second season of “Jessica Jones,” a third season of “Daredevil,” and the “Daredevil” spin-off “The Punisher.” The specific timing of those series remains to be seen, but “The Punisher” is potentially further along just because of some of the casting news that we’ve had a chance to see for it over time.
Since premiering, “Luke Cage” became an instant favorite for many on social media; typically with Netflix shows (they don’t release any official data), you really have to judge things based more on pop-culture impact than anything else. It is fairly easy to determine that this is a show with a tremendous amount of pop-culture impact behind it.
