‘Game of Thrones’ season 7: Alfie Allen details Theon’s state of mind

There are several people within the world of “Game of Thrones” who have substantial reasons to be angry: Their families were killed, their lovers were taken away, or maybe they were just born into a terrible circumstance and never were able to work their way out of it.

One of these said people is Theon Greyjoy. How could it be anyone else? If we were to list the series of horrific events that have transpired with this guy, it probably starts first and foremost with the fact that Ramsay Bolton tortured him, removed parts of his anatomy, and refused to even call him by his proper name. He reduced him to a terrible shell of a man, and watching all of this play out proved to be one of the most depressing and distressing things of a certain batch of the story.

Now, however, there is a chance for a chance. Speaking (according to popular show site Watchers on the Wall) while at the Malta India Fan Convention, Alfie Allen did his part to describe where his character’s head is out right now, and also where it could be going from here:

“[He is] skittish and full of fear…Basically, and then that can kind of, I guess, evolve into rage, which you might see…who knows?”

This is an interesting place for Theon. He is starting to evolve out of being Reek, but at the same time continuing to struggle with the notion that his captor altered his viewpoint on himself and the world around him. It’s an almost-impossible change for him to try and digest, but when he does, he may look at this as a chance to fight back for what he had in the world. Sometimes, it is difficult to see the world for what it is when you are going through hell, and this could be Theon’s experience. Once he has time removed from Ramsay’s death and sees himself in a more stable position, everything could flip on its head. The psychological mystery around this is a big part of what makes the story ahead so appealing.
