Does this ‘Criminal Minds’ promo contain one of the creepiest UnSubs ever?

The final episode of “Criminal Minds” this year is coming up on Wednesday night, and the title that is accompanying it is “Scarecrow.” After watching the just-released promo below courtesy of CBS, you may never want to venture into a cornfield again.

This show, despite not being altogether scary sometimes when watching it over the course of a full hour, has a knack for cultivating fairly-terrifying promos; this one features an UnSub who bears, at least in the mask, a resemblance to the Batman villain Scarecrow, and that may be precisely the point. You only get a few passing glimpses of the character, but that may be enough to provide the perfect source of nightmare fuel for weeks.

So what nefarious crimes is this man guilty of? Let’s just say that there’s a pretty good chance that he is responsible for the remains of numerous dead people being found in a creek bed in Washington. Even though the team may be in the midst of a battle with Mr. Scratch, this is an UnSub every bit as terrifying and worthy of an episode at this point. Let’s just hope that the BAU tracks him down before he kills again.

As for what else is coming in this episode, Damon Gupton (as previously reported) will be making his series debut in the role of Stephen Walker. He is an experienced profiler, and should be a natural fit for the team in terms of what he brings to the table as an asset. His larger challenge may be adjusting to some of the social dynamics. This is something that was not easy at all for Luke Alvez, given the way that Garcia seemed to meet up with him and react to him in the days that followed said meeting.
