‘Criminal Minds’ season 12 spoilers: Aisha Tyler teases Mr. Scratch’s eventual return

The character of Mr. Scratch reared his head in a rather big way on Wednesday night’s new episode of “Criminal Minds,” and he did so for a case that deeply impacted the personal lives of some of our key characters — in particular, we’re looking at Aisha Tyler’s Tara Lewis as a prime example of that. He created a horrible situation for her involving her brother Gabriel, and it took the entire team in order to help break it all down and restore her life to something resembling a peaceful existence once more.

So could we end up seeing Mr. Scratch return to the series in some other form soon? Based on what we’re hearing right now, all signs definitely seem to point towards that happening. Just take a look at what Aisha Tyler had to say in a new interview with TV Guide:

“…Mr. Scratch is a very prominent figure and I think he’s probably going to touch every member of the BAU by the time the season ends. That’s all I can say. We hear a little bit [from producers], but we don’t get a season-long spoiler, so I honestly don’t know a lot, but you will see him again soon.”

At this point in the season, we do think that producers are doing the right thing in establishing a clear / terrifying Big Bad, given that it presents a significant reason to keep watching week-to-week. Sometimes with procedurals you can develop a sentiment of “oh, nothing is going to happen this week,” and given all of the recent cast shakeups and the arrival of greater unfamiliarity into the series, it’s probably even easier for that to happen than it would otherwise be.
