‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8 spoilers: Paul Wesley on Stefan, Caroline’s future
Are there big things a-coming for Stefan and Caroline on “The Vampire Diaries” this season? We can only speak mostly for the present, and we know that in that sense, there have already been some rather big things already. The two were engaged, and that offers up at least a temporary of hope for happiness. There’s far from a guarantee that it will last, but for the time being, this presents the idea rather effectively that the two are on the road to a brighter future.
With that being said, it’s still not a future that even Paul Wesley knows at the moment — despite him being a star on the show, a producer, and is directing the new episode airing on Friday night. Speaking to TVLine, he did make it clear that the fans will probably play a pretty big part in what happens in the future — though his own perception of the future may be just a tad different:
“I don’t know how it ends. I do think the fans have a lot of influence over this show, though. So if the fans want a June wedding, they’ll probably get a June wedding … I certainly don’t think they should live happily ever after, but it’s a nice distraction from the reality of … all the atrocities Stefan has committed throughout the years.”
Based on what Wesley is saying here, it feels almost as though your enjoyment of the ending of the series will be linked, whether it be directly or indirectly, what in particular you are hoping to get out of the series … and for most people, that’s a little bit of romance and a little bit of hope for a more peaceful existence. Having Damon or Stefan either dead or in misery is probably the more likely conclusion given their history, but we have a hard time thinking that the writers were putting us on this journey for such an extended period of time to end with one of the more depressing conclusions that they could possibly think of.
After a brief break in the action for this past week because of Thanksgiving, get ready for a crazy episode coming soon! If you missed it, you can head over to the link here to check out a promo for what lies ahead right now. (Photo: The CW.)
