‘The Real World Seattle: Bad Blood’ episode 8 preview: Is this starting to look like last season?
We certainly don’t think that this is the news that anyone wanted to hear today, but unfortunately, it is the news that we are nonetheless come to report from Wednesday night’s “The Real World Seattle: Bad Blood” episode.
What are we talking about here? Specifically, it’s the use of a particularly-ugly word by Mike in a conversation with some of the women in the house. You can see a little bit of what we’re talking with in the sneak peek over here — the moment comes in the midst of him getting his fellow housemates to sign a “contract” for a silly fictional radio talk-show in the house. He drops the n-word almost out of nowhere — it’s the version with the “a” at the end, not that this really matters much.
Understandably, one houseguest in Orlana in particular is incredibly upset by the use of the language, and doesn’t want him to be using that in any way. She doesn’t confront him about it in the moment, but we have to imagine that it’s something that could come up in the episode down the road.
The thing we don’t quite understand here is whether or not Mike considered the backlash that came along with some of the race-related comments that Jenna made on “The Real World: Go Big or Go Home” last season, which led to her being hated by several of her housemates and also many people in real life. Even if you, for whatever reason, don’t have any problem using that word, you have to at least be self-aware enough to know that other people are going to find it offensive.
But seriously — just don’t use the word. There’s no need for it now, and there never was.
