‘Empire’ season 3, episode 7 video: Cookie asks Jamal for help; tension with Diana

We’ve got a new episode of “Empire” coming onto Fox tomorrow night, and judging from the two sneak peeks that we’ve got for you below for it, Cookie Lyon’s relationship status is going to be at the center of the drama.

First of all, the thumbnail for the first video is amazing, but beyond that there’s also some important video content in there as Cookie asks her son Jamal for a little bit of help. She’s getting set to attend a fancy event that she knows Angelo Dubois’ mother Diana is going to be present at, and she wants to make as good of an impression as possible. We love Jamal’s response to this, which is basically that he’s willing to do anything and everything that will further ensure that she doesn’t end up back around Lucious. He’s looking out for her in the best way that he knows how, and you gotta give him a little bit of applause for that.

Meanwhile, the second sneak peek showcases a different problem: It doesn’t appear that she’s actually shown up to said gala, as Diana looks visibly annoyed over the fact that Cookie’s not there. Angelo wants to try to hand over some excuses as to why that is the case, but for the time being, let’s just say that many of them are falling on deaf ears … somewhat understandably so. The reality here is that Cookie told him she’d be there, and not turning up means trouble for a relationship that’s already dealing with a wide array of issues.

Here’s to hoping that either she shows up soon, or there is some reason why that’s not happening — given everything going on at Empire, it’s certainly always possible that work called her away.
