‘The X Factor’ UK spoilers: Matt Terry, Saara Aalto, and Emily Middlemas will sing Christmas songs

Matt Terry -

Tonight, “The X Factor” finally said a fond(?) farewell to Honey G after several weeks in the competition, and with that, we have a chance now to move forward to what will hopefully be a very exciting remaining of the season.

With that, it’s time to ask one other important question: What’s the theme going to be for the next new episode? That was announced at the end of the episode tonight, and the only choices were either Christmas music or songs from the 1980’s. In other words, it’s not like the show really rolled out the widest array of possibilities in the history of the series.

The final selection for the night was Christmas, which means that at least half of the show is going to consist of people performing popular holiday songs. Given that we are now entering December, we don’t have a problem with that. If it was November still, meanwhile, it’d be worthy of an eyeroll or two.

At the end of tonight, 5 After Midnight found themselves in some danger before saved by all of the judges. This means that we’ve got a final four of the last remaining group, Matt Terry, Saara Aalto, and Emily Middlemas. Matt and Emily are the only two contestants to never be in danger, and with that, you have to assume that they are the top two contenders for the finale. Yet, at the same time we do think that Saara has significantly raised her game the past several weeks, and we do think that she’s got a reasonably good shot of making it through to the final. Winning may still be a challenge, but we’ll see what happens there.
