‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’: Why Lauren Graham feared the famous four words
The famous four words have now been spoken on “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” and of course, you have to wonder what that feeling is like for the cast. They waited for an extremely long time to finally get to know precisely what Amy Sherman-Palladino had planned for the closing moments of the series, and they’ve now had an opportunity to find out.
(Of course, there are some MAJOR spoilers ahead.)
If you’ve already seen the show, then you know what the words are. Rory says “mom?”to her mom Lorelai, who responds with “yeah.” She then says “I’m pregnant,” and the reaction is all we get. Maybe this isn’t necessarily the end of the series (it’s always a chance that it comes back down the road), but this is it for now.
With that in mind, let’s get the reaction of the woman behind Lorelai in Lauren Graham, who told The Hollywood Reporter that she was actually extremely nervous to find out:
“I had a very general sense of where Lorelai was that made complete sense to me and then, what I didn’t know exactly is how it would end … For the longest time, I couldn’t read ‘Fall,’ which is our last episode. I was like, ‘This is psychotic, I have to read where this ends up,’ but I think I was both worried it wouldn’t be satisfying and also just kind of wanted to save it. Eventually, I read it and it was very satisfying.”
For the most part, we do also think that the reaction’s been positive, or at the very least as much as it can be considering the circumstances. The hype was such that there are always going to be a few people who are never satisfied in the end.
