‘Arrow’ season 5 winter finale photos: Prometheus — and a season 1 flashback?

The winter finale of “Arrow” is entitled “What We Leave Behind,” and it is going to be coming your way come Wednesday, December 7. What can you expect from it? It’ll be on after the crossover episode next week, and apparently, we’re going to be diving back into some of the mythology that is at the center of the season so far — including trying to determine the identity of the oh-so-mysterious Prometheus.

The first photo above doesn’t really offer up any clues, but it does make it clear that we are going to be seeing a battle of some sort between Stephen Amell’s character and the infamous Big Bad. All we know about him for sure right now is that he has some sort of knowledge of the Green Arrow / Oliver Queen’s history, and that he has been working for some time in secret with one Evelyn Sharp a.k.a. Artemis.

As for the second photo we’ve got for you below, we do think that this one is just a tad more interesting for one primary reason: Is that season 1 Oliver we spy with our little eye? The costume is reminiscent of that part of the show’s run, and you also don’t see him wearing the mask that he adopted a little bit later in the run. This is a good sign that we’re going back to the very beginning of the series with Prometheus, and whoever he is is likely tied to that.

All of this makes for an exciting proposition, but at the same time, we gotta see if the episode itself matches all of the hype that’s out there. It’s one thing to be excited about something in advance, but they gotta figure out a way to pay it off!
