‘Timeless’ spoilers: Enter Benedict Arnold!
Throughout the entirety of this first season, we’ve seen “Timeless” on NBC really take on a wide array of notorious figures. We’ve seen John Wilkes Booth so far, we’ve got Bonnie & Clyde coming up, and early next year, famed serial killer H.H. Holmes will be stopping by.
Before the end of this year, though, one particularly notable traitor is going to be turning up in Benedict Arnold — or at least in terms of an overall story theme. While we cannot confirm per se that Arnold will appear in the upcoming December 12 episode entitled “The Capture of Benedict Arnold,” we know that the show will be in the right time period … and it would be awfully weird of we didn’t see him. Interestingly, this episode is coming mere weeks after Monday’s installment, where we were in a period that was only a mere matter of decades before we got around to the American Revolution.
What makes this episode so interesting in particular when looking at the fabric of the show is that seeing the truth behind what happened with Benedict Arnold — or at least the show’s own interpretation of said truth — could cause some members of the team to raise questions as to whether or not they’ve been looking at his story the wrong way over the course of their entire lives.
One other thing that we can tease here is by the end of this episode, something could happen to the key Big Three that makes all of them question one thing more than anything else: Can they really continue to work together? There are already clear divides over various lies and actions, and that could spiral out of control sooner rather than later.
