‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 3, episode 10: The crisis ahead for Annalise
The end of “How to Get Away with Murder” for the fall produced a significant double-whammy. Not only did you have the character of Annalise Keating remain behind bars, but it was none other than Wes who was dead underneath that sheet. We don’t want to get too hyperbolic about this necessarily, but we do personally feel as though this was the most shocking death we’ve seen on this series ever. It was almost “Game of Thrones” quality in that you took someone off the map who almost everyone assumed would be around for a rather-long time.
Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Pete Nowalk made it clear precisely what the situation is now for Annalise Keating’s character; while you would think at first that Wes being dead would mean that he couldn’t testify against her, the reality here is that he’s the primary reason she’s in this spot to begin with:
“Annalise has been arrested for his murder … She is screwed more than anything. From her point of view, she is being framed for this and it’s the worst thing that could have happened.”
Ultimately, the only glimmer of hope that there is for someone like Annalise Keating is that she is Annalise Keating. She’s the sort of person who time and time again manages to find a way to escape terrible things that are happening around her; we’re not always entirely sure how she does it, but she pulls it off. She also has so many people among the Keating Five who could be further incentivized to help her, even if that is only for the sake of protecting their own hide.
