Ratings: ‘The Exorcist’ surges as ‘Vampire Diaries’ falls; ‘Hawaii Five-0’ wins night again
There’s starting to be a pattern when it comes to the ratings for Friday night, and it’s one that does in many ways surprise us: We didn’t imagine going into this year that we were going to be seeing a situation where “Hawaii Five-0” would be winning the night several weeks in a row. Let’s remind you: For a long time, we thought that this show was going to be in danger of ending last year.
Also, we’ve got some reasonably good news for fans of “The Exorcist,” which is worth checking out in the numbers below.
CBS – While there were some declines that took place on the night, for the most part the news was great all around. “MacGyver” held firm at its 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, while “Hawaii Five-0” dropped, but was still enough to be a winner with a 1.3. Meanwhile, “Blue Bloods” was down slightly with a 1.2. Most importantly to CBS, they won every single timeslot on the night.
NBC – Not much to discuss here: “Caught on Camera” brought in a 0.7, while “Dateline” got a 1.1. We don’t really cover either of these shows.
ABC – The one-two comedy punch of “Last Man Standing” and “Dr. Ken” drew a 1.1 and 0.9 rating, respectively, which is about par for the course. “Shark Tank” continued its recent trend with a 1.1, while “20/20” posted just a meager 0.7, a massive drop versus last week.
Fox – As we mentioned at the top, “The Exorcist” improved this week to a 0.7 rating, which ties the show’s best rating since its second episode in late September. We do still wonder if that’s a strong-enough performance for the show to return, but it’s not shedding any of the viewers that it has.
Meanwhile, “Hell’s Kitchen” — otherwise known as the show you never hear about but the show that will be on the air until Gordon Ramsay is a member of “The Walking Dead” — drew a 1.0.
The CW – “The Vampire Diaries” fell versus its most-recent outing to a 0.3, while “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” stayed low with a 0.2. The CW’s going to have a real dilemma when it comes to that show moving forward — it’s beloved, but it’s numbers are pretty atrocious.
