Is ‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 18, episode 7 new tonight? On upcoming episodes

Law & Order: SVU logoAt one point in time, there was meant to be a new episode of “Law & Order: SVU” airing on NBC. That was a cause for some tremendous excitement, but unfortunately since that time, there have been a few separate things that have gotten in the way. First, you had a Presidential Debate earlier this year, and from then, you had the World Series.

This Wednesday, “Chicago PD” scheduling caused things to turn around ever so slightly. There is no new episode airing tonight because that show needs basically to air two episodes tonight to get the story it needs to out of the way before “Chicago Justice” premieres in the new year. Meanwhile, there are plenty of weeks coming up still to air new episodes of “SVU.”

In terms of specific stories that are going to be coming up, NBC has yet to officially confirm what episode will be airing when the series is returning on Wednesday, January 4, but there are two installments we are aware of — “Great Expectations” (which there is little official information out there for) and “Unstoppable,” the much-discussed story of an infamous politician accused of many terrible things. Donald Trump was apparently the inspirational for that, and Gary Cole apparently gives a fantastic performance in it. Unfortunately with the current political climate it is still difficult to determine when NBC is going to opt to air that one.

In terms of when we’ll get some further information regarding these episodes or many others that NBC is planning, we imagine there will be press releases starting to come out around the second week in December. Synopses for NBC shows tend to come out a few weeks in advance, and we imagine especially there will be a need to push at least one or two out before everyone departs on a Christmas break.
