Ratings: ‘This Is Us,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Fresh Off the Boat’ rise; ‘NCIS,’ ‘Bull’ steady
Given that much of Tuesday night’s television lineup was gone for at least one week — and in some cases two or even more thanks to the election, debates and World Series — we had some concerns as to whether or not many of the shows would be holding up well and if viewers would have forgotten about some of them and moved on.
Luckily, that doesn’t turn out to be the case at all! This was a rather good night for the majority of the networks, especially some hits who are happy to be keeping up their traction.
CBS – They probably had the most lukewarm night of anyone, given that “NCIS” (1.7) and “Bull” (1.5) were fairly steady versus the week before while “NCIS: New Orleans” (1.2) was down slightly.
NBC – “This Is Us” won the night with a 2.6, an improvement over the last new episode two weeks ago. “The Voice” (2.1) fared decently with its latest results show, and “Chicago Fire” (1.5) posted a very tiny increase.
ABC – We typically don’t focus a whole lot of time on comedy ratings since they’re fairly steady week-to-week; however, this time “The Middle” (1.6), “American Housewife” (1.6), “Fresh Off the Boat” (1.3), and “The Real O’Neals” (1.1) all posted really nice gains. Remember for a moment here now that “Agents of SHIELD” wasn’t on the air last night.
Fox – “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (0.9) and “New Girl” (0.9) drew the same sort of numbers as always, while “Scream Queens” (0.6) posted an incremental improvement — though not enough to keep this in-danger show safe moving forward.
The CW – “The Flash” (1.2) posted its best rating since the start of the season, while “No Tomorrow” (0.3) continued to show that it probably doesn’t have much of a tomorrow.
Tonight, we’ve got a prime-time packed with regularly-scheduled programming. The big change is that you’ve got the “American Horror Story” finale as competition out there, coupled with two hours of “Chicago PD”, so when it comes to ratings… tomorrow’s numbers should prove to be interesting.
