NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results: Did #VoiceSave protect Sa’Rayah, Aaron Gibson from elimination?
Tonight, “The Voice” season 11 is airing its first proper results show of the season, and it’s one that should offer up a certain degree of excitement. Just remember everything that we’ve got coming up! This is an opportunity to see some performances, a few funny moments, and most importantly, the first real chance to see the compete picture of who America is rooting for on the season and who’s going to be heading out the door in twelfth place.
The first three artists declared safe on the show were not a surprise in any stretch of the imagination in Ali Caldwell, We McDonald, and Brendan Fletcher. The first two did a very good job both on the show and iTunes, and while Brendan’s sales were a little lower, he closed out last night’s show. That’s almost always a green light to get to the next round.
The next artists to be declared safe were Courtney Harrell and Billy Gilman, and our reaction to this was somewhat mixed. After all, we knew that in the case of the latter, he would likely get this sort of love given that he’s been routinely good for most of the season and seems to be very much appreciated by America on iTunes. For Courtney, we weren’t seeing the sales needed to make us feel good about her future prospects — but we’re glad she’s sticking around. Moving forward from here, both Darby Walker and Austin Allsup were also declared safe! This was great news, given that we were very much concerned for Darby especially. From here, Josh Gallagher and Christian Cuevas were both also declared spared for the night. Sundance Head was last to get the green light, but don’t read into that too much.
In need of the Save – It’s between Aaron Gibson and Sa’Rayah. Based on the iTunes figures, this isn’t a surprise given that neither one of them was in the top 100. Of the two, we felt like Aaron would likely get it given that he was put through without Miley Cyrus’ help to the top 12 in the first place.
Eliminated – Sa’Rayah. Aaron Gibson was sent through to the next round, so unfortunately this is where we’re going to say goodbye to one of Alicia Keys’ team members.
