‘Shameless’ season 7, episode 8 preview: Lip, Frank hope to turn things around
Given that this is “Shameless” season 7 as opposed to season 2 or 3, we’re at a time in the series’ run now where so many things about the future have to start being considered. This is now a show that is not going to be able to take its time with stories forever; sure, it’s not seemingly ending this season, but typically Showtime series don’t go any further than eight. Maybe it does, but one way or another, you gotta start thinking about where the various members of the Gallagher family are going to end up.
Sure, most of this group can be described perfectly using the words “utter trainwreck,” but we like to think at the same time that there is a little bit more to them than that. They’ve always had a certain degree of ambition, but it’s often be used in the wrong way and for the wrong things. Some characters on next week’s new episode “You Sold Me the Laundromat, Remember?” (great title) will be looking to turn things around ever so slightly, but that doesn’t guarantee that their attempts at bettering themselves will go perfectly. These people are still the Gallaghers, after all; they’ll never be honor students.
Synopsis (via TV Guide) – “Fiona makes DIY renovations on the laundromat; Lip goes before the school board in an attempt to get reinstated; Frank tries to ingratiate himself back into the Gallagher house; Kev’s trust in Svetlana wanes further when the van goes missing.”
The biggest takeaway from reading this to us is Frank, given that this is a guy who nobody has any responsibility to take in and care for at this point. Just look at the lying, the addiction, the betrayals, or even most recently his attempt to form a surrogate family in an attempt to shirk as much responsibility as possible. What do people really owe him at this point?
As for Fiona, is’t been one slow move after another with the laundromat, but hopefully in due time this business will end up moving into a positive direction for her.
Promo – You can see many of these attempts to turn things around in the preview below — but in the case of Lip, there are some moral gray areas. For Fiona, there’s an issue of her laundromat completely falling apart at the seams.
