‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 8, episode 5 preview: On Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, and big decisions
Could we actually see Stefan Salvatore have to put his brother down on “The Vampire Diaries“? That is a pretty terrifying question, but it’s one that we could see an answer to as we push further into the show’s final season.
Next week, we’re going to have a story entitled “Coming Home Was a Mistake,” which we’re hoping is going to be some sort of tangible reference to what is going on at present with Matt Donovan. After all, he had a chance to move on and start something resembling a normal life (everyone really should want that on this show by this point), only to see him find his way back. There are also some other key moments that take place here, including what we inferred at with Paul Wesley’s character earlier.
Synopsis – “Spiraling down a dangerous path of self-destruction, Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) latest actions prove he may be beyond the point of return. Unwilling to give up on his brother, Stefan (Paul Wesley) is forced to make a gut-wrenching decision that threatens to change their relationship forever. Elsewhere, Bonnie (Kat Graham) gets advice from Caroline (Candice King) on how to break through to Enzo (Michael Malarkey), while Matt (Zach Roerig) attempts to decipher a mysterious box of messages that he’s received. Finally, after tragedy strikes close to home, Stefan and the others are forced to remember what matters most to them.”
Sure, this synopsis doesn’t prove in any way that Stefan’s going to be killing Damon, but it does have us thinking in that direction given that he’s remained so fully on Sybil’s control so far. We figure that Bonnie may at least have a little bit better luck with Enzo, if for no other reason than that he showed beforehand a little bit of a willingness to not give in completely to whatever Sybil wanted him to do.
Promo – This confirms our suspicions, and unfortunately it doesn’t do much to settle our head after seeing the end (seemingly) of Tyler tonight. Stefan really has a painful choice now.
