‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ finale streaming live; ‘Last Week Tonight’ finale to be available in full
It may be somewhat of an understatement to say that tonight’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher” will be notable. Not only is this the season finale of the series on HBO, but it’s the first for the show since Donald Trump became the President-Elect. It was only earlier this month that Maher finally at down with President Barack Obama, so we’re not sure the show could swing over more in tone if it tried. Maher is one of the funniest and most brutally-honest people out there, so we imagine tonight’s show will be a reflection of that.
Clearly, HBO also realizes that they have something notable on their hands, given that they are giving it to American viewers tonight for free. If you visit their official YouTube channel, you will be able to watch starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time / 7:00 p.m. Pacific.
Per an official release from the network, here is what you can expect: “Former Atty. Gen. Eric Holder is the top-of-show interview guest. Comedian Trae Crowder is the mid-show interview guest. The roundtable guests are political commentator David Axelrod, political correspondent Ana Marie Cox and columnist Thomas Friedman.” Since releasing this, HBO also confirmed that musician / producer John Legend will also be stopping by.
In addition to giving away this episode (it’ll be available on YouTube after the fact for those unable to watch live), HBO also will be offering up the finale of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” after it airs on Sunday night via its own channel. This show tapes in advance, so there won’t be a live component.
Given that Oliver had arguably the biggest takedown of Trump in all late-night comedy earlier this year with an elaborate video that made “Donald Drumpf” into a thing for many months, we imagine that he’ll be planning something epic. Who knows, though? Oliver’s somewhat unpredictable, so he could shift gears into another subject entirely.
