‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 9, episode 4 review: Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks and friendship
Last time on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” we saw some pretty serious moments happening for some of our ladies. Kenya met Matt’s entire family at a reunion and we saw Kandi become emotional after a visit from her ex’s girlfriend stirred up some buried pain she feels about her daughter Riley.
Since we were just speaking of Kandi and Riley’s father, let’s start off this review with that. Kandi gets Mama Joyce up to speed on everything that’s transpired and she has a few choice words about the situation. She thinks that Riley’s father should be paying child support and that Kandi should be putting him on blast publicly and while Kandi has said that she’s wanted to do that on the radio, she just didn’t feel right about it. She has now shared this stuff with viewers on national TV, and while she may not have wanted it to all come out on camera, it’s a journey we want to take with her since Kandi has always been someone we are emotionally invested in.
Riley’s father ends up calling Kandi asking to sit down with her for a talk, even though Kandi made it clear that he doesn’t need a relationship with her to have one with Riley. He tells her that he wants to have a better relationship with Kandi so that they can co-parent Riley better – which really gets under her skin since Riley is almost 14 now and he hasn’t been around much up to this point. Watching Kandi in tears has our hearts breaking for her and we have this impulse to hug her super tight.
Bob has made his intentions clear to Sheree: He wants her back and he wants to move into her new house. Their daughter wants this reunion to happen as well, but Sheree isn’t ready for it, especially since Bob has never apologized or taken responsibility for what he did to her and the family. Bob asks Sheree out for a dinner date and she shows up looking like the front page of Vogue where as he has on a tee-shirt and track pants. Where’s the effort Bob? Although Bob may not have put much effort into what he was wearing, he did put in a serious effort when it came to apologizing to Sheree for what he did to their family when they were married. It was heartfelt, honest and as Sheree said “long over due”.
Sheree and Kenya are still fighting and it’s gone from low blows about their respective houses to low blows about their reputations and calling each other names. We don’t even know why things have gotten this bad between these two , but once Kenya calls Sheree’s wig “a mama Joyce looking wig”, now Kandi is getting involved. We aren’t going to get too much into this fight since we’ve never been interested in this show for the drama. We love it for the emotional stories the ladies share with us, a peek into their family lives and of course the glamour of a life we will never have.
Can we just take a minute here to say how much we love Kenya and Phaedra’s new friendship? These two have had such a bad run of things over the years that we never thought we would see these two having time alone together, but here we are and it’s a lot of fun to watch. They may be working on their friendship, but the shade is still being thrown. We can’t get enough of these two and if for some reason there was ever going to be a spin off, we would watch these two on a show alone together all day long. Episode grade: A-
