Two more ‘The Good Wife’ actors join ‘The Good Fight’ spin-off
By the time that CBS finishes up casting for “The Good Fight,” it may as well be called “The Good Wife” season 8 given all of the familiar faces who are going to be turning up.
Already, we know that series stars Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will be joined by Sarah Steele, and will even have Gary Cole turning up on a recurring basis. Now, TVLine is reporting that Zach Grenier and Jerry Adler will be appearing once more in their roles of David Lee and Howard Lyman. The precise nature of their presence remains unclear, but this means that the landscape of the Chicago-set series will feel reasonably similar to what it felt like on the last season of the CBS show.
Are there still some newbies? Sure, given that you’ve got Rose Leslie, Bernadette Peters, and others stopping by. We also imagine that the story focus will be shifted somewhat — it has to be, given that this is no longer about the journey of Alicia Florrick. We’re still optimistic that Julianna Margulies could make an appearance eventually, but we wouldn’t do that right out of the gate as to not create any distractions away from the remainder of the show. We’d also love to see Matt Czuchry return at some point as Cary Agos, even if the series ended with him potentially looking at some different horizons in his life.
If you’ve missed the previous reports, “The Good Fight” will premiere on CBS proper early next year; following that, it’ll officially make its move over to the CBS All Access streaming platform. While we’re excited to see the series play out, we don’t have the confidence just yet in the service’s ability to retain subscribers over just one show, even at a price point of just $5.99 a month for the plan with commercials.
