‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: Tyler Hoechlin not playing Cyborg Superman
One of the biggest critiques we’ve had of “Supergirl” through the past season and a half is the lack of notable villains. In particular, Monday night’s installment most revolved around seeing some really nasty bank robbers with fancy guns from Project CADMUS. It was like Captain Cold and Heat Wave minus any of the personality.
Luckily, this seems to be changing somewhat later this season, given that the CW series is finally introducing Cyborg Superman, one of the best villains from the DC Comics world and a character who is powerful enough to strike fear into the hearts of Kara, J’onn J’onzz, and many other members of the cast.
So who will be playing this character? That’s a question that is being bandied about around the internet. We’ve heard several different theories over time, including that the character may be Jeremiah Danvers or that is a recreation of someone else Kara knew from Kypton. However, one theory that we can rule out here is that the character is going to be playing by Tyler Hoechlin. This Cyborg will not look exactly like Superman a.k.a. Clark Kent.
This news was confirmed by executive producer Andrew Kreisberg to TVLine, where he had the following to say about the desire to eventually get the “Teen Wolf” actor back for another stint in the future:
“We’d love to have him back, but right now, we’re still trying to figure out what we’re going to do for the rest of the season. We loved working with him, he’s amazing in the part and we’d be lucky to get him back.”
As previously mentioned, the show originally planned on having David Harewood’s Hank Henshaw eventually become this character, given that this is the alter ego of Cyborg Superman in the comics. However, this was changed following the pilot where he is now the Martian Manhunter. It’s an interesting shift when you actually go back and watch the pilot versus the character today.

Won’t bother to watch if Tyler Hoechlin isn’t in it.
