‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13 star Caterina Scorsone welcomes baby girl Paloma Michaela Giles

Mrs. Carter: Caterina Scorsone’s passing along some great news on election day!

While we certainly know that there is some news coming out later today that will be good either good or bad depending on your political viewers, we’re pretty darn sure that everyone out there will agree that there is something worth celebrating about the “Grey’s Anatomy” actress and her husband Rob Giles welcoming their second child in Paloma Michaela Giles. Scorsone posted the first photo of the baby below on her official Twitter account, along with a note that she voted in the election today. Like many other members of the show’s cast and crew, she has been an avid supporter of Hillary Clinton.

Back at the time in which Caterina first announced that she was pregnant earlier this year during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, there were many questions out there regarding whether or not the writers were going to write that into the show. They faked us out with a storyline earlier this year, and it now appears to be pretty darn certain that the writers are not going to be going in this particular direction.

Given that she did just welcome a child, we imagine that Scorsone will get some much-deserved time off to get accustomed to being a new mom once again. We’re not sure how creator Shonda Rhimes will write her out at the moment, but it’s something that will probably be done for at least a handful of episodes. Luckily, this is a show that is really great at accommodating new parents, given that they’ve done so for Jessica Capshaw, Sarah Drew, and many other actresses over the years.
