Ratings: ‘Supergirl’ season 2, ‘Gotham,’ ‘Kevin Can Wait’ all on the rise
Last night was the final night of primetime before election day, and as a result of that, what we ended up seeing was a wide array of shows performing far better than they did before. Who knows? Maybe the end of the World Series signaled an opportunity for some to get back into TV, or maybe there was just a desire to get away from some of the chaos.
Still, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves here, given that it’s not like some of the shows are necessarily pulling numbers that are going to produce the equivalent of eyes popping out of your head.
The good news – It was a good night to be a superhero, as we ended up seeing the latest episode of “Supergirl” improve to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, “Gotham” did the same thing in surging up to a respectable 1.2 rating, its best number in a while. The “Supergirl” performance is a little more of a bummer, since we really hoped that this should would be getting consistently numbers close to a 1.0. What’s hurting it? In our eyes, it’s the lack of interesting villains.
Meanwhile, great news for NBC all around. “The Voice” (2.3) won the night, while their “Saturday Night Live” election special notched a huge 2.1 rating, a sign that people will even watch repeats when they are funny and politically-based.
One of the big winners of the night was “Kevin Can Wait,” which probably made good on a much-hyped guest-starring appearance on its way to scoring a 1.7 rating as a whole on the night.
The bad news – Well, “Conviction” over on ABC is probably not going to have a particularly long life on the air, given that it’s getting a 0.7 rating rating in November. All of a sudden, it’s making the ratings for the final season of “Castle” appear good!
