TV Quick Hits: ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ reprisals; ‘The Defenders’ gets Elektra; ‘Stranger Things 2’ casts Sean Astin
There’s a whole lot to get to when it comes to this particular edition of TV Quick Hits, so let’s go ahead and kick things off with a very-important note for all of those out there who love “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and are understandably super-eager about the idea of it coming back on the air: You’re going to be seeing a return from both Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.
Per Deadline, both actors are poised to return to the series starring Larry David for the upcoming season, and as for how they’re planning at present to make this happen, let’s just say that a big part of it will have to do with arranging schedules on their other jobs in “The Good Place” and “The Last Man on Earth.” For Danson in particular, we imagine that he is aided by the decision that he made with Kristen Bell to only do a 13-episode first season of the show; that way, they had time to do other projects.
As for some other big stories…
“Stranger Things 2” nets Sean Astin – While we’re not sure what this means for all of those who compare the show to “The Goonies,” Entertainment Weekly reports that Astin, best known for that movie along with “Lord of the Rings,” will be playing Bob Newby, a one-time nerd who went to school with Joyce and Hopper. Meanwhile, former “Mad About You” star Paul Reiser is also going to be appearing as Dr. Owens, a prominent man working within the Department of Energy working on an assignment to try to clean things up a little bit.
“The Defenders” retains Elektra – While it may not be a shock, we’re still glad that it’s official that Elodie Yung will be coming on board the Netflix team-up in the role of Elektra. This follows many of the other recent casting announcements that we’ve given already for the series. (Photo: HBO.)
