‘Doctor Who’ 2016 Christmas Special: First photo; when to expect more
Christmas always is a wonderful time of the year, and not just because it’s the time we tend to see lights, decorations, gifts, and hot cocoa; it’s also an opportunity to see some of the best specials that Great Britain has to offer.
With that, we bring you now one of the first teasers from the upcoming 2016 Christmas Special for “Doctor Who“! This episode, entitled “The Return of Doctor Mysterio,” is the only installment of the show airing this year, and while there’s not all that much known about it, we know that there is a superhero component to it. Justin Chatwin of “Shameless” fame is playing said hero, and we feel like this will feel rather different than what we’d say is your standard episode of the BBC series.
The photo above doesn’t exactly give away too much beyond a sighting of Peter Capaldi, but we will certainly celebrate having this over not having any photo at all.
There will be more information regarding this special, rest assured that it will be coming soon! During the upcoming BBC Children in Need special on November 18, there will be an exclusive clip from the special played. Not to get too schmaltzy over this, but we can’t quite think of a better occasion to unveil something from this show; “Doctor Who” is extremely popular with younger viewers, and at the same time, we also do think that the character has such an innate spirit of goodness about him that he works well in such occasions. Sure, the reality is that he’s also destroyed worlds and plenty of people, but try not to think about that!
This episode will presumably be the last for the show before the introduction of Pearl Mackie as the new Companion, who will remain in the role for at least the majority of season 10.
