‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: Cyborg Superman entering the picture
Just in case the second season of “Supergirl” was not intense enough to many of you out there, know this: You’re also going to get a little bit of chaos coming up courtesy of Cyborg Superman. He’s a notable villain from the comics, and while we cannot tell you precisely how he turns up, we will say that you’ll see him in the upcoming November 21 episode entitled “The Darkest Place.”
One thing that we will say is that the road in which we got to this place with this character is rather interesting for an abundance of different reasons, with one of the primary ones being that originally, the plan here was likely for David Harewood’s Hank Henshaw to become the character. After all, Hank is an alter ego for the supervillain in the comics, and it was only later that the writers reversed course and turned him into J’onn J’onzz a.k.a. the Martian Manhunter, one of Kara Danvers’ key allies on the show.
Now, there are other possibilities for the hero’s creation, including him presumably being a product of Project CADMUS. Given their role to date in cultivating people with powers to destroy Supergirl, we don’t put anything past them. They’re also the closest thing that we have to a Big Bad at the moment on the show. (Trust us, we’re rooting for another one — an evil organization full of zealots really doesn’t strike us as altogether interesting.)
This episode is coming right before we get to the crossover event, which mostly interests us for Supergirl in terms of how Kara ends up getting involved in all of that. If we had a theory, it would be that Barry Allen will do what he can to recruit her, given that the Dominators are an alien race and she may have a little bit of specialized knowledge regarding how to deal with them. Time will tell, but that should end up being exciting.
