‘Shark Tank’ preview: Safe Catch, EcoFlower, #besomebody, The Style Club, and Wicked Good Cupcakes
“Shark Tank” is right around the corner tonight, and in setting you up for the episode, we have to say we’re especially excited about this one. These episodes are always the best when you have four products that are all incredibly distinctive from each other, and all of them have a chance of getting a deal based superficially on what we’re seeing from them. Of course, you do have to remember that our perception can be wrong, given that we thought Potato Parcel would be the NoPhone all over again and be regarded mostly as a joke product.
Take a look at the four featured products below; remember that you can click on any of the links to be navigated over to the official websites! Also, the update on tonight’s episode will be Wicked Good Cupcakes, a product with a Kevin O’Leary investment that is one of the more-notable success stories over the past few years.
Update: You can view our full review of tonight’s episode here.
#besomebody – This may be one of the most millennial companies to ever be on the show ever in between the hashtag in the name and the whole idea of the product: A service that is really at its core all about offering through its app and other services classes where people can learn a useful skill or a further along a passion through what the group refers to as Passionaries. You can become a teacher yourself and earn money through the platform, or take advantage of it yourself. It is an interesting idea, but also a complex one given that there are so many separate employees operating around the country independent of you. Sometimes, this particular businesses are difficult to invest in just because they are often unwieldy to manage. We’ll see what turns out here.
Safe Catch – These are the products that to us, often work the best in the Tank because they are so easily digestible. It takes almost zero effort to explain what it is or what its purpose is: This is canned tuna that uses a special process to ensure that it contains the lowest amount of mercury possible. This is often a danger with any canned tuna, and why it is not accessible to many people to eat. You are spending a tad more than you would for your standard can of tuna online, but based on what we’ve seen online, it’s still within reason for what you’d pay for tuna. If you have concerns, you’d be willing to spend a tad more.
Here lies the main concern: It’s a grocery product. This is exceptionally hard for any business to succeed in, and these Sharks are more averse to taking risks in this realm than they were years ago.
The Style Club – A fashion brand that seems especially noteworthy in terms of their collections, which include everything from shirts to jackets to hats. We’re not in the target demo so we cannot tell you even for a second if these styles are good. The product name’s to-the-point, though, and we kind of like that. The challenge here is simply one of investing in a brand rather than an idea; there’s nothing altogether innovative or proprietary here, and while that doesn’t always matter, it does sometimes.
EcoFlower – Really cool idea. We have an appreciation for both flowers and wood items, so it’s almost the perfect marriage of the two. These are wood flowers that are still beautiful, but you don’t have to worry about the water or them dying a couple of days after you buy them. Also, they’re made with recycled materials. They may not be for everyone out there, but there’s something very earthy within the designs that we can see appealing to viewers out there. As of right now, we’d say that this is the business with the best shot of an investment. One suggestion that we would make, though, is making the “About Us” part of the page a tad more prominent so people can understand what they are buying all the better. This is a company that’s tried to get on “Shark Tank” several times, and now is the chance for that dream to become reality.
