‘Pretty Little Liars’ series finale: How Ian Harding said goodbye

The latest -

While the “Pretty Little Liars” series finale is (unfortunately) not going to be airing on Freeform until we roll around to the spring, we do come bearing good news: Creator Marlene King continues to be absolutely wonderful sharing some personal moments from the series wrapping things up. It’s absolutely not something that she has to do, but she kindly does recognize that love that so many people out there have for the show and for these characters, and she doesn’t want to see that love dissipate between now and when the show airs.

The video below is a lovely farewell to Ian Harding as he wrapped up seven seasons of playing the character of Ezra Fitz, and he goes into a rather funny story about how this was his first major role following his graduation from college, and how he initially auditioned for what was a fairly “sexy” part wearing a Christmas sweater. There was a certain degree of innocence about him, which may be in turn one of the reasons why he got the part. While there are degrees of Ezra where he can have that sort of leading-man charm, he’s also an intellectual and not someone who perceives himself as overtly sexy in any way. That’s a part of why he works as a character within this world.

Ezra’s final-season storyline to date revolves around his romantic future with Aria, and while the two were recently engaged, you do have to wonder what the news regarding Nicole’s fate could mean for their relationship. We are very much optimistic the two will make things work, largely because any other idea is much too depressing given the journey of this show. We have to hope that there is some happiness at the end, since otherwise this entire journey may be one that is rather difficult to bear.

Don’t worry: We’re sure that there are many other fun videos previewing the series finale in some shape or form coming.
