‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’ finale: Who will be last person standing?
Sure, it may still be another two weeks until we get to the season finale of “American Horror Story: Roanoke,” but we do not believe that it is too early to start pondering over that question in the title: Who is going to be that one character who makes to the end of all of this? Given that this past episode marked the end of the road for both Shelby and Dominic, we are left now with just three viable candidates among the list of people we consider important. (We’re leaving out some of the supernatural folks / people we’ve only seen a small percentage of the time to date.)
Audrey – You never want to bet against Sarah Paulson — ever. Just remember for a minute here how Lana Winters made it to the end of “Asylum,” or how we saw her play the final Supreme in “Coven.” Sure, she was less significant in the “Hotel” endgame, but she had “The People v. OJ Simpson” dominating much of her time. Keeping Audrey alive is the predictable route.
Lee – This would be the ironic route, given that Lee tonight finally admitted to killing Flora’s husband out of fear that he would take her away from her. We do certainly think that this show loves its irony, so going in this direction would be a way to remind us that often, those who survive are not often the kindest or the most virtuous.
Monet – The most random option. What keeping her alive at the end shows us is the person who tries to run away from the insanity rather than look for some reason to stick around (even if it is to get rid of incriminating murder evidence) is the person with the best shot.
Given that the script on “Return to Roanoke: Three Days of Hell” never technically said that the survivor was an important player, but why go in that direction? It’s a completely what-the-bleep decision if that is the case, and we want to think this journey matters; though, then again, we still haven’t quite figured out what this season is trying to tell us other than that fame can be absolutely devastating.
