Is ‘Empire’ season 3, episode 5 new tonight? Schedule changes and a ‘Star’ update
We feel almost akin to a broken record for having to keep saying this, but it holds firm yet again today: There is no new episode of “Empire” coming on the air. What’s the reasoning for it? It’s simple: Fox has the World Series on! They can’t air two things at once, and while there were originally plans to put episode 3×05 “One Before Another” on the air tonight, there was always an asterisk on it that it was in the event there was no Game 7.
For the record, we wish other networks would plan accordingly, even if they don’t broadcast baseball. All the scheduling switcheroos for NBC and CBS today seem to be throwing many viewers out there into various stages of frustration.
What Game 7 means for “Empire” fans is that by the time “One Before Another” airs, the show will be off the air for almost a month thanks to both baseball and a Presidential Debate. Here’s a question for you: Should “Empire” premiere in late November in the future? It’d help cool off all the hiatus weeks. Or, what about saving it ’til the new year? We understand Fox being wary airing a new episode a day before Thanksgiving, and by that point, it may make more sense to premiere in January and run straight through to the finale without a break.
Let us know what you think about some of those ideas in the comments; we wanna spend a minute now handing down a slice of news from earlier today. On December 14, “Empire” is moving to 8:00 so that Fox can launch after it “Star,” their new making-the-band-but-in-scripted-form series also from executive producer Tyler Perry. This show premieres in proper in January, but this is a smart way to give it a little ratings boost right from the get-go. We don’t get the sense that it’ll equal “Empire” at all, but we don’t blame Fox for trying.
Want more details about what’s actually happening on “Empire” when the show returns? Don’t worry — we got your hookup over here. Here’s to less ghost sex; you can only pull that stunt once. (Photo: Fox.)

Ugh. YES – one continuous season instead of being disappointed every week. It’s hard to stay invested when you can’t even remember what’s going on in the show.

Would prefer it air in January if interruptions can be avoided. Really not good but I understand about baseball popularity.

Yeah that’s what I’m starting to feel through. I’d wait longer for it to see it run straight through.
