‘Scorpion’ season 3, episode 7 preview: On Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, and … the Presidential election?
It’s a fairly common thing that we see episodes of scripted series that are themed all around such things as Halloween, but the Presidential election? Let’s just say that this one was a little bit of a surprise to us. We didn’t think that we’d be getting that anytime soon, especially since we’re in the middle of a Presidential election that could be advertised by and large as the one that most people want a distraction from.
To be fair, we don’t think “Scorpion” itself is going to be spending a lot of time on next week’s “We’re Going to Need a Bigger Vote” dealing with Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton; instead, we’ll just have a case for them that requires them to do what they can in order to ensure that an election happens without things falling apart all over the country.
Synopsis – “On Election Day, as democracy hangs in the balance, Team Scorpion is called on when someone tries to throw the U.S. presidential election into chaos.”
Yep, the jokes do write themselves when it comes to this sort of storyline. We’re trying really hard to restrain from making them here! The thing that we’re probably the most interested in here is just seeing how patriotic some of our characters are during this hour, and whether or not the show can figure out a way to tell a story about politics without getting too immersed into them. Just remember how polarizing it is to be either a Democrat or a Republican these days — if you elect to be one of them, odds are that there are plenty on the other side who will complain. You don’t want to turn off an audience if you’re working on this show.
