TV Quick Hits: ‘Making History’ order cut; Drew Carey takes on ‘Price Is Right’; Fuse prepares Esports special

Fox -

We begin this edition of TV Quick Hits with a little bit of news when it comes to a trimmed episode order — and we’re specifically talking about it in terms of Fox.

According to a new report from TVLine, the upcoming time-travel comedy “Making History,” starring Adam Pally and Leighton Meester, is seeing its episode order cut from 13 to nine for the upcoming first season. This is supposedly due to the network’s scheduling needs more so than anything that is particularly wrong with the show.

If you’re excited for the series (see the trailer below), our advice is watch it and don’t make any assumptions based solely on this. “Galavant” is a great example of a show with a super-short first season that got a season 2 renewal, even if it didn’t last all too long after that.

As for some other news from the weekend…

Stephen Colbert gets some “Price Is Right” scoop from Drew Carey – The video below features a pretty fun exchange between the two guys on “The Late Show” where Drew answers some frequently-asked questions, and also gives his own suggestion as to the right way to play Plinko. It’s a little more simple than you’d think.

We also like this video because it features a reminder of Colbert’s brief time on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” back when Carey was the host of it.

Fuse prepares to air Esports special – The Esports market is one that is rapidly expanding these days, mostly with the sheer rise of the number of people who play games coupled with the overall interest in more varied competitions on TV. With this in mind, Fuse is lining up a special airing on November 14 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern entitled “Gamer Gods: Team Liquid.”

Here’s how the press release for the special describes it:

Gamer Gods: Team Liquid takes the viewers along for the ride with players Spencer “Hiko” Martin, Nick “nitr0” Cannella, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, Josh “jdm64” Marzano of the United States, and Jacob “Pimp” Winneche of Denmark; their manager Steve “Joka” Perino; and coach Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu, as they train for the above ESL One New York 2016 esports tournament featuring the world’s top eight Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams competing for $250,000. Viewers will see the team strategize maneuvers, develop player tactics and psychologically prepare for battle – all culminating in either the sweetness of victory, or with the powerful realization that they must regroup to fight again another day.”
