‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ season 11 reunion part 2: Was Heather Dubrow going to quit over Kelly Dodd?
We have gotten through the first episode of the season 11 “Real Housewives of Orange County” reunion and it’s been dramatic to say the least. If you want fighting and rehashing old problems then you’ve come to the right place! They were even still talking about Brooks if you can believe that dead horse was being brought out. Hopefully this week’s reunion episode will bring us something different.
We started this reunion show off with a focus on Shannon and her vow renewal. While she feels that it’s something that has really helped them as a couple, Vicki compared it to hers with Don saying that once the ceremony was over Don said to her “That’s going to be good for TV” and Vicki realized that the marriage was over. Vicki also made the comparison that there were affairs in both marriages, and Shannon took offence because she never had an affair and claims that Vicki did so it’s not the same. Shannon also revealed that they have run into David’s affair at sporting events, but for the most part they just ignore each other outside of one incident where this woman swore at her and Shannon turned to the stands and outed her as the affair.
There was also talk of Shannon’s mother in law and the things she said on camera this season. Shannon says that the whole thing was premeditated by her mother in law and that she had even told Shannon’s children beforehand “no matter what happens tonight, remember that I love you”.
Brianna stopped by and there was talk of Vicki’s new man Steve. Vicki reveals that Steve is marriage material and that she would get married again – and Brianna approves. Speaking of Brianna we had a health update and she unfortunately reveals that she has Lupus. Also, there’s more Brooks talk and Vicki asks the question we all want an answer to – do we have to talk about Brooks for the rest of her life on this show???
We learned a lot about Kelly this season as she is pretty open about her life, but we learned even more at the reunion. She admits that she went to AA from a court order after an incident at a 4th of July part where her husband was getting into a fight with a group of people and she hit him to stop it and got in trouble. In order to get the charge dismissed, she had to go to AA classes, however she reaffirms that she does not have a drinking problem.
We also had some further insight into why Heather reacted the way she did at that sushi restaurant when Kelly blew her top. This was the same restaurant where she saw her brother-in-law alive for the last time and didn’t want her memories marred with a nasty situation like this. The fight was so bad that Heather even said behind the scenes that she doesn’t care if Bravo fires her (and wanted Kelly fired), because she can’t be around Kelly anymore. Heather also reiterated that the language used was something she isn’t used to being around and doesn’t want to be around, and Kelly reminds her that she is close to Tamra who uses strong language often.
What was the most interesting about this whole reunion to us was during the commercial break, Vicki and Kelly reaffirmed that they are going to continue to have each other’s back through out this reunion because things are going to get ugly. It’s sad that this is how the ladies feel they have to go into this reunion process since it’s basically an emotional boxing ring. For the most part we like to get some updates on what’s been happening and we like seeing the behind the scenes stuff, but getting everyone together for more fighting is something we could do without. Episode grade: A-
