Ratings: ‘Hawaii Five-0,’ ‘MacGyver’ fall vs. World Series; ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ steady

The World Series is currently in the midst of being a ratings juggernaut. How much so? It’s basically able to dominate even for a game that featured only a single run scored over the course of the night (that’s some quality boring baseball). Granted, you also did have Bill Murray singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” as Daffy Duck, which is one of the strangest and most hilarious things we’ve ever seen.

For those wondering, the preliminary rating for Game 3 between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians is a 4.7 in the 18-49 demographic. Now, let’s get to everything else that is a little more relevant to CarterMatt readers. TV ratings!

The good news – Hey, there are is no more bad news to report on the CW front! “The Vampire Diaries” (0.4) and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” (0.2) were consistent with their most-recent ratings, though we still wonder if critical acclaim alone will be enough to save the latter, which is pulling some pretty woeful numbers on the night.

The bad news – You know it’s a bad night when we’re proclaiming the winners to be shows that aren’t actually showing any substantial improvement. The reality here is that almost everything else dropped versus the big game. “MacGyver” (1.0) and “Hawaii Five-0” (1.0) drew some of their lower numbers of the season so far, while “Shark Tank” (1.1) also declined and was #1 on the night against “Blue Bloods.”

As we mentioned at the start of this article, though, it’s hard to worry about any of these shows too much given the competition, especially since some of these procedural shows are watched heavily in Middle America, the same sort of region where there are probably a lot of Cubs and Indians fans out there. We expect that there will be a bounce back in the ratings for them the moment that we get a little bit of distance from baseball.
