‘Poldark’ season 2, episode 9 sneak peek: Ross and Demelza’s frosty reunion

Remember when Ross and Demelza were happy on “Poldark” Sunday night? All of a sudden, that feels like ages ago. In the wake of everything that’s happened on the show this past episode between Ross and Elizabeth, their relationship is in tatters and may never be put together again as it once was. It is devastating and sad, and we’re not sure it will ever be what it was. Way to break our hearts!

The sneak peek below features Ross returning home to find his wife, but she unfortunately does not hold him in anywhere near the same regards that she once did. She offers to help him pack, and then coldly reminds him of all of the vows that he has forsaken and all of the broken promises he’s made. His actions with Elizabeth destroy her, and while he may be apologizing to some extent, it is hardly enough given what’s transpired.

Ross insists that he’s not “perfect,” but isn’t there a difference between being imperfect and being completely heartless? His latest action seems to qualify Ross more for the latter. We’ve stated this a few times over, but we’re no book reader. Therefore, we are entirely unaware as to where this series is going to go moving forward (but that’s all kind of the fun for us). All we can say is that it will be very hard for us to root for Ross in the way we once did, and maybe that is the point. Maybe this character is meant to be an underdog in our eyes in the same exact way that people on the show are meant to discount him now.

We’ll try to keep an open mind — however hard it may be — throughout Sunday’s episode.
