President Obama to appear on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ before election
A mere matter of days before the Presidential Election is to take place, President Barack Obama is finally making fans of “Real Time with Bill Maher” rather happy.
Tonight, it was announced that the Commander-in-Chief would be making his first appearance while in office to the HBO late-night show, which has openly lobbied for him to make an appearance over the years, come Friday, November 4. What will come out of this is a lively and hopefully-fascinating discussion with plenty of humor mixed in. The timing of this is also surely no coincidence, given that the President may see this as an opportunity to further lobby votes towards Hillary Clinton come November 8.
In a statement, Maher had the following to say about landing the President:
“I’m thrilled that the president has finally accepted our invitation to come on the show – just like with the country, he always comes through in the end.”
Obama is no stranger to various late-night series, having appeared on many throughout his tenure in office. He’s come to realize that there is a certain degree of strategy when it comes to using late-night programs as places to explain various campaigns and show a human side. Media is changing, and there are so many more viewers now who watch these programs than your standard news shows, especially when you calculate streaming. With some shows, it’s almost a bait-and-switch where you get them in with comedy only to then later educate them on the news. Luckily, Maher is someone who never really has to water anything down.
One way or the other with the election, we certainly don’t see the new President sitting down with Bill anytime soon. Therefore, we’re going to enjoy just about every moment of this interview. It should prove rather fascinating to watch unfold. (Photo: HBO.)
