‘Blue Bloods’ season 7, episode 6 review: Whistle-blowers and tough times
We do like to think that in one way or another, every episode of “Blue Bloods” on CBS has an impact. With that being said, there are some out there that almost surely have more of an impact than others. Friday night’s new episode is not one we’ll remember all too much.
For one, we almost wish the show had taken a harder line when it comes to the hunt for a whistle-blower potentially passing alone information into the Attorney General’s office, as well as allegations of bullying and bad behavior within the NYPD. Sometimes Frank can be a little too pedantic, and his speech at the end of the episode suggested to us almost that he is a little too caught up in the old way of thinking. More than that, this storyline just didn’t have any real buzz or exciting moments to it. We know we’re in October and that’s hardly a time for notable stories on network shows, but we still want something a little more exciting than this.
Elsewhere, we did see Danny and Baez put their noses to the grindstone in order to investigate the case of a woman struck by a car, and this at least contained some of the compelling police-work that we’ve come to appreciate from these two parties. Still, we’ve seen more exciting cases for the two of them this season, whether it be Danny having to defend himself to Baez tracing down elements of her own past.
After a fun storyline last week involving psychics, this time around there wasn’t anything nearly as interesting for Jamie and Eddie to do.
We do appreciate one thing or another about “Blue Bloods” every week, and we understand that 22 episodes is a lot to do a year. It just felt like tonight there was a lot of filler, almost as if the better stories are being saved for episodes down the road. This is not an episode we will be remembering for too long into the future. Grade: C+.
