‘Shark Tank’ review: Joyce’s Lulu Bang, unPack, Sunscreenr, and Potato Parcel
Tonight’s new episode of “Shark Tank” is here, and there’s one thing that we’re (of course) hoping to have more so than anything else: Entertainment! Sure, we know that there will be some deals here and there, but we don’t watch this show for the business negotiations alone. We want them to be interesting and dynamic — which means that we don’t want to see any Sharks holding someone hostage in order to make a given deal.
Given that this is a LIVE review, the one bit of advice we can hand down now is pretty simple: Be sure to refresh throughout! That’s the best way to see updates on all of the individual deals. You can also click on any of the product names to be redirected over to their official websites.
Joyce’s Lulu Bang – How do these stand out from the average sauce? That’s the challenge for them coming into this episode. The sauce apparently was good, but the issue here was clear a few minutes into the pitch: It’s not selling all that well, and barbecue sauce is not an easy thing for consumers to buy online since they want to look at what they’re getting first. There’s a chance that this takes off, but there’s nothing proprietary about it and therefore there was no reason for a Shark to take the risk, sadly. No deal.
unPack – If you don’t want to pack up your own clothes for a trip, this is the product for you! Basically, they pack clothes and toiletries for you, and you get them at your hotel. It really didn’t go well for them at all. We do think that there are some good ideas in here, but the issue here is that we don’t think people who are going to be interested in this will want to wear used clothing. It’s as simple as that. Also, there are still some other items that people are going to need to bring for a trip. No deal.
Sunscreenr – Think of this as the perfect sunscreen accessory, since it helps to show you just how covered your skin really is. With the valuation that this guy came in with, the question that we really wondered was whether or not this guy was a complete and utter crazy person for thinking that anyone would want to bite on this in the first place. He redeemed himself slightly by dramatically reducing that to get a deal with a Shark who could actually help him. Deal with Kevin O’Leary.
Potato Parcel – It’s a potato that you get through the mail. What else do you need to know? It’s completely insane, and by that logic, there was zero reason at all why this should have gotten a deal. Yet, it did. Somehow, Kevin O’Leary is now helping this company get to the next level with a royalty deal with a small equity share. We also saw Kevin hug two men dressed as giant potatoes, leaving us to wonder if we’re now watching some sort of crazy fever-dream. Deal with Kevin O’Leary.
