‘MacGyver’ episode 7 preview: Let’s go to prison
We’re not going to pretend as though the whole “undercover mission in prison” story is one of the most innovative in the world. It’s a storyline that almost every crime / action series chooses to do at some point or another over the course of its run.
Yet, at the same time it’s a story that we always find to be particularly compelling, and we hope that it’s a fun one that unfolds over the course of next week’s new episode of “MacGyver” entitled “Can Opener.” The premise of it is interesting, and we are certainly all about what exactly the title character is going to use in order to bust a guy out.
Synopsis – “MacGyver is tasked to go undercover as an inmate in a maximum security prison to break out El Noche, a notorious drug kingpin, using only batteries and salt, and track him to his cartel’s secret location and dismantle it.”
In one way, it does annoy us how CBS is choosing to not give away much in terms of the story to focus more on whatever random objects Mac is using week in and week out in order to take down some of the bad guys. Yet, at the same exact time, we do appreciate the consistency that is present here. At least the show is establishing some sort of identity and attempting to do their best to stick to it. That is something that could prove valuable in the long run; we could get used to this practice, and wonder down the road how the writers are going to be able to come up with more random objects for Lucas Till’s character to use in order to get himself out of random binds.
