‘Castle’ alum Stana Katic, ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star Shay Mitchell line up next project
While we don’t write too much in terms of movie-related news here at CarterMatt, we are often curious as to one thing: What actors are going to want to do immediately following being a part of a long-running show.
In the case of Shay Mitchell here, this is especially relevant. Per a report from Deadline, the “Pretty Little Liars” star (who just wrapped up filming the Freeform drama this week) is going to be joining the upcoming horror movie “Cadaver” featuring “Aquarius” alum Grey Damon, and they’ll have another co-star with significant TV connections as well: “Castle” star Stana Katic. She’s already done some work since the end of the show on ABC; also, it was just announced earlier this week that she will be starring in a new television series entitled “Absentia,” one that hopefully is going to air on American TV next year if we are so lucky.
This movie features Mitchell as Megan Reed, a former cop and recovering addict who uncovers some unspeakable things while working the overnight shift at a hospital. Katic will play a nurse who works there who also happens to be Megan’s sponsor. One other interesting note here is that Katic worked previously with Mitchell’s “PLL” co-star Troian Bellisario on “Sister Cities,” which recently aired on Lifetime.
For many of the “Pretty Little Liars” cast, we imagine that movies may be the most attractive future option for the immediate future. After all, they did the same thing for roughly the past seven years, and it may be exciting for them to do a wide array of different roles moving forward. Eventually, we do foresee many of them returning to TV in some way just because that is where so many of the best roles are right now across the board.
