‘MacGyver’ episode 6 preview: The battle versus ‘The Ghost’
Tonight, “MacGyver” gave us an episode featuring more Nikki mythology, trust issues, action, and plenty of kissing. What we’re trying to say here is that there was a lot going on.
So where do we go from here with Lucas Till and the rest of the cast? Next week’s new installment is entitled “The Ghost,” and what makes this one particularly interesting / exciting is that we could get a chance to see the title character face off against a different (and particularly dangerous) opponent; yet, at the same time, it is someone who he could have faced off against in the past.
Synopsis – “Using only a wrench and rope, MacGyver must diffuse a bomb set near the United Nations by his old nemesis, “The Ghost” (Niko Nicotera), a notorious criminal whose work killed his mentor, and track him down before he strikes again.”
We like the idea of Mac having some former adversaries who turn up as opposed to just new ones, largely because it gives greater depth to the man and allows us opportunities to see characters who could turn up down the road, as well. While Nikki may be the closest thing that the series has to a Big Bad at present, there’s something to be said for having a few other notable adversaries. A good comparison would be Batman having The Joker, but at the same time still a Solomon Grundy or two that he’ll need to take out along the way. The better and smarter the villains, and the stronger the challenge we’re going to see MacGyver face. If you want your leading men to be challenged, we don’t see how this is anything other than a rather-great thing.
