‘Better Call Saul’ season 3: Bryan Cranston reportedly teases character return
While this may not be the biggest surprise in the world at present given the end of “Better Call Saul” season 2, it appears as though there could be another familiar face to the “Breaking Bad” universe coming up in the AMC show’s upcoming third season.
Per Uproxx, former “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston made it clear while promoting his book A Life in Parts in Dripping Springs, Texas that there is “another new character coming on the show that you will recognize” coming to the show at some point this coming season. Cranston remains on great terms with the cast and crew in Albuquerque, and even recently paid them a visit. He’s said that he is willing to turn up on “Better Call Saul” if asked, but he also feels firmly that there is such a thing as staying past your expiration date and he feels fairly cautious to avoid that if he can.
So who could this returning character be? Almost all evidence, including the “don’t” message at the end of season 2, suggests that we could be seeing none other than Gus Fring turn up at some point in the future. He is the most natural extension of the show’s universe given where we are now, and also the story that needs to be told given where we met Mike Ehrmantraut on “Breaking Bad.” In order to connect the dots properly, he has to turn up eventually.
If it is Gus who happens to be returning, we just hope that production finds a way to keep said return under wraps for as long as humanly possible. One of the reasons why this show works so well is that it’s been able to keep almost every story thread a secret.
