TV Quick Hits: ‘Shameless’ season 7, ‘The Americans’ season 5 casting; FX’s ‘Legion’ teaser
Just in case there wasn’t enough of a reason to be excited about the seventh season of “Shameless” at present, now consider this: We’re getting a chance to see Barry Sloane on the series, as well!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Revenge” and “Longmire” alum Barry Sloane has been booked to appear in at least two episodes of the season moving forward, and he will be playing someone who could have some sort of connection to Emmy Rossum’s character of Fiona. His name is Ryan, and he is an entrepreneur who meets her at a Southside Young Professionals conference. Is it possible that he becomes a new love interest? If it happens, it will put to an end a story about her trying to find herself aside from relationships this season.
Suffice it to say, though, it’s far too early to be sure what is happening.
As for some other news from the day…
“The Americans” scores Laurie Holden – According to TVLine, the former “Walking Dead” actress is going to recur on the upcoming fifth season as Renee, who could become a love interest for Noah Emmerich’s character of Stan after the two parties end up meeting at the gym. This sounds exciting, mostly because of the fact that this show can never get enough in terms of quality performers.
New “Legion” teaser – The upcoming “X-Men” series may not be coming to FX until the new year, but in the new clip below, you can get a small taste of Dan Stevens in action! Based on what we’re seeing this far, this looks to be all sorts of entertaining and then some … even f there are a ton of superhero shows already out there.
