‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ season 11 finale review: Is Vicki on the outs again?
Last time on “The Real Housewives of Orange County” we ended the episode with Tamra winning her competition and everyone looking forward to Shannon’s big party to celebrate. This includes Kelly and Vicki, and Tamra’s hope is that everyone will have a chance to clear the air with Vicki since she still as yet to apologize for the things she said.
With all the drama that this season has given us we were happy to start this finale off with some fun news. Meghan had a gender cake party to find out the sex of her baby and after cutting into the cake and seeing the pink center they knew they were having a girl.
Of course, the good times don’t last as Tamra’s “eat whatever you want” party happening at Shannon’s house. Vicki has written Shannon an apology letter in hopes that they can move forward, but Shannon feels that if Vicki has something to say that she should say it to her face. Remember that at this point that it has been two full weeks since the ladies have returned from Ireland and there has been no apologies from either side.
The party in general is awkward as wherever Vicki is, Tamra, Shannon and Heather scatter from. They just don’t want to deal with her – which we find kind of strange from Tamra in particular since she’s the one that wanted Vicki at this party in the first place.
Meghan talks to Tamra, Shannon and Heather about what happened in Ireland and she says that from what she witnessed Kelly was being ganged up on. Shannon denies trying to pull one over on Kelly saying that she doesn’t care enough to do that. Meghan tells Heather that Kelly’s upset with her because she thinks that she’s meddling which Heather gets defensive about it, but Meghan calls her out on some of the comments she was making in the van.
Things get a little passive aggressive when Tamra gives out “funny” shirts to the ladies with their mugshots on them and what the “charge” against them is (this is in connection to getting thrown out of the store in Ireland and almost getting the cops called on them). While some of them are funny or at least not insulting (Heather got the charge of “being too fancy”), some of them were a little on the mean side, like Vicki’s charge of “lying” or Kelly basically being called a drunk.
Things heat up pretty quickly it starts with Kelly trying to apologize to Shannon. The things that were said, can’t be taken back and Shannon isn’t ready to forgive. As they are talking, Heather jumps in and the fight shifts as Kelly tells Heather that this is none of her business and to stop putting herself into situations that don’t involve her. When Vicki decides to go to the bathroom, we hear Heather tell her “don’t move” and now we have Vicki in the middle of it all as Tamra screams at her to stop talking about other people.
Vicki has had enough and is ready to just leave and at this point we don’t blame her (we would’ve left long before this), but Shannon stops her at the door asking about an apology. Vicki tells her that it’s in the letter she wrote and Shannon feels it’s not good enough. What Shannon really wants is to tell Vicki that their relationship is over and Vicki just accepts what is happening. Seems the fight she had at the beginning of the season is long gone.
Since filming the show, Vicki and Tamra haven’t spoken and that was six months ago, so it will be interesting to see what happens at the reunion next week. We know that these finales have to end with some drama so there’s something to talk about at the reunion, but this was a rough season. Way too heavy for us, with some of the nastiest fights and not enough glamour and fun to balance it all out. Episode grade: B-
