‘The Blacklist’ season 4 spoilers: Show boss teases Mr. Kaplan’s future
At the end of this past episode of “The Blacklist,” the good news for fans of the Mr. Kaplan character is that we saw her alive … and that may be the full extent of said good news. We don’t know still who she is with, what they want from her, and also if she will even recover completely from being shot.
What we can at least say, per the latest comments from showrunner Jon Bokenkamp, is that the story is going to continue in some very-interesting ways. Just take a look at what he had to say as a part of a new interview with TV Guide:
“We’re gonna go down the rabbit hole with Mr. Kaplan into a sort of unexpected world, I think. She has been left for dead and has been rescued. That could be good and that could be bad, and maybe full of a couple turns and twists. But what that character will not do is race her to the nearest Good Samaritan hospital and wish her well. It’ll be a little more fun than that.”
What is fun about this twist is that it is hard to know or determine just what sort of person she will be on the other side of said transformation, or if she could want to go after Red as revenge for what he did. There would be a part of us that’d be all in on the idea of Mr. Kaplan eventually becoming a Big Bad sort of character down the line, given that most of these people, whether they be Berlin or Alexander Kirk, have histories with James Spader’s character that we have not seen play out. This one is different.
