‘The Flash’ season 3, episode 2 reaction: Could Julian Albert be Doctor Alchemy?

Felton -

Tuesday night’s new episode of “The Flash” brought us many exciting reveals, whether it be the reconciliation of Iris and Joe West or the big reveal that following the events of Flashpoint, Caitlin Snow is now Killer Frost — or at least an earlier version of the character.

To us, the most exciting new presence is Tom Felton in the role of Julian Albert, a snarky guy who doesn’t care for Barry Allen much. He knows that he’s up to something, and he is rather upset about whatever it could be. Given the distaste that is already there, it’s not too hard to think that maybe this could could be some sort of supervillain in advance. Is he Dr. Alchemy, the Big Bad for the season to date?

The one slice of evidence you could have for this is that Julian does have an affinity for science given his job, and he doesn’t quite seem to have an agreeable personality. There also must be some sort of reason why he is here when he was not in the original timeline, but that has not appeared just yet. (We certainly didn’t hear of Dr. Alchemy before Flashpoint happened.)

Here is the main reason why it hopefully won’t be Julian: It’d be far too expected, given that the show’s been down this road before. We’d almost prefer that Julian become Savitar a little bit later this season, and have that be born out of the anger that he has for Barry, especially if he learns that he is The Flash. He could ask Alchemy for the assistance if he finds out about him, and maybe in the way the two can help each other.

Or, it’d be interesting if Julian came around and became a friend. That certainly gives him more long-term viability on this show.
