‘Empire’ season 3, episode 4 sneak peeks: Cookie Lyon at the opera
On Wednesday night’s new episode of “Empire,” one of the more interesting storylines we will see is the next step in the relationship between one Cookie Lyon and Angelo Dubois, a man who comes from a very different world and has different aspirations. No doubt, both of them are immensely successful, but in different ways — and they’ve also used different methods to get there.
It is with this in mind that this relationship is so fascinating to watch unfold. They challenge each other in different ways. In the first sneak peek below, we see Cookie putting an extreme amount of effort in figuring out what to wear for the date: There may be a certain part of wanting to impress Angelo in this, but also a degree of her knowing that they will be photographed and it is another way to get back at Lucious. We know that Cookie has some insecurity in her (every person does), but we’ve never felt like it defined her in any way. Even if it did, this preview wouldn’t really be evidence of that.
The real fun begins for Taraji P. Henson’s character in the second sneak peek, where Cookie has a brilliant response to some high society women asking her where she spends her summer. Angelo does his part to hype up her talents running Empire Entertainment to them, and then Cookie goes ahead and tells them that she’s done time in prison. Fantastic.
We don’t have any idea where this relationship is going to lead, but for the time being we’re all about it. The longer we’ve got Taye Diggs on the show, the happier we think we’re going to be in the end.
