‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 8 spoilers: Callen’s got an unusual roommate…
In speaking on this subject further to TV Guide, executive producer Scott Gemmill made it very clear that these two men would be living together, and that there would be some sort of fun that comes out of that:
“[Callen and his father] become, at least temporarily, sort of Odd Coupleroommates … Callen, who’s spent his whole life looking for family, suddenly finds himself with family. [He’s] used to his privacy in his space, and it takes some getting used to … having a family member living with him.”
It remains to be seen just what sort of impact this could have on his life in the long-term, but we don’t necessarily think that his first name getting out there is going to automatically mean that we are done with the backstory. The more opportunities we get to learn more about Callen’s past, and the more this could inform where the character is going. He certainly has seen a wide range of developments so far this season, in between having to deal with a further government presence at the office and also Kensi falling into a coma. He’s still had a job to do, but at the same time it was necessary to find a few moments of empathy in there.
